Hiring: Full Stack Engineer

We are seeking a Full Stack Developer proficient in NextJS, Supabase, and GraphQL to join our technology team. In this role, you will develop and enhance both the frontend and backend of our next generation content platform, ensuring a seamless user experience. Your contributions will be crucial in making our platform more engaging and user-friendly.

84000.co is a global non-profit organization dedicated to making the Buddha’s teachings accessible to everyone through authentic translations. Our mission is to preserve these timeless teachings to awaken humanity. 

About Technology Initiatives

To advance our mission, we’ve established a content team to develop a unifying content strategy. The technology team works closely with the content team, translation and communications to expand content offerings for three target audiences: (1) translators, scholars and educators, (2) practitioners, and (3) the general public. Currently, 84000.co offers an online reading service with translations and thematic articles, reflecting scholarly analysis of the source material. Looking ahead, we will present our translations, and supporting content, in engaging formats relevant to each audience, using contemporary digital mediums, including AI. All content will remain authentic, balancing scholarly accuracy with traditional understanding. This accessible approach will help visitors discover the collection and the profound teachings within.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the frontend of our platform using NextJS, ensuring a responsive and intuitive user interface.
  • Build and optimize the backend of our platform using Supabase, focusing on performance, scalability, and data management.
  • Implement and manage GraphQL APIs for efficient data fetching and manipulation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate content requirements into technical implementations.
  • Ensure code quality, maintainability, and scalability through proper documentation and testing.
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in full-stack development and implement best practices.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in NextJS, Supabase, and GraphQL.
  • Strong experience in full-stack development
  • Familiarity with AI-driven application platforms.
  • Enthusiasm for low-code and no-code development paradigms.
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks.
  • Experience with backend development, database management, and API integration.
  • Ability to write efficient, clean, and reusable code.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a close-knit, creative, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills and teamwork capabilities.
  • A passion for technology for humanity and AI.
  • Familiarity with Buddhist teachings and ideally Buddhist scripture and literature
  • Empathy for cultural heritage and wisdom traditions.
