Grant Damron
Senior Full-Stack Engineer
Grant is a software engineer who has dedicated his career to building tools for creative people.
Grant holds a MS in Computer Science and a MMus in Music Composition, both from New York University. He studied Classical Tibetan at Rangjung Yeshe Institute in the 2000s and thought he would become a translator. Eventually, he realized his best contribution to the Dharma should be through other efforts.
As an engineer, Grant has spent over a decade creating software that helps people to become creative. He has helped build a service for designing interactive stories, a platform for immersive installations. He has authored tools for augmented reality, and more than one software application for creating interactive music. As a musician, Grant creates interactive sound sculptures and audio applications that generate unending streams of music. He studied composition with electronic music pioneer Morton Subotnick, film composer Ira Newborn, and MacArthur Fellow Julia Wolfe. With 84000, Grant builds tools to help translators do their work and that provide greater access to the public.
Grant lives in Berkeley, California with his family and spends as much time in the forest as possible.
