Hundreds Join 84000’s Teaching on Sūtra and Resounding with Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
Hundreds of practitioners flocked to Deer Park in Bir, India, to celebrate Saga Dawa Düchen, listen to a Teaching on Sūtra, and participate in a Resounding of The Gold Sūtra led by Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche. During the 84000-hosted session, "Pure Gold," this short yet profound sūtra was first recited by Rinpoche in Tibetan, accompanied by the flute, then everyone resounded in English or the language of their choosing.
In the Teaching on Sūtra, Rinpoche discussed the mind of awakening as taught by the Buddha in The Gold Sūtra. Rinpoche explained that our minds are naturally pure and awakened but it is challenging for us to recognize that. “As we lose our trust in this fundamentally, inherently pure gold-like mind, more and more we begin to become suspicious and get bombarded with hope and fear…dualistic mind completely covers the fully awakened mind that we have,” he said. But we must also have longing to fully realize this pure mind. At the same time, Rinpoche explained, “we don’t have to acquire this gold-like awakened mind… you just have it.”
