Ven. Konchog Norbu

Copyeditor

Konchog ensures that the translations adhere to 84000 editorial and style conventions.

Konchog has worked for Lion’s Roar, creating online content; served as editor for the translated teachings of several contemporary Buddhist masters; and taught English to Shedra students at Namdroling Monastery, where he also oversaw various publication projects of the Rigzod Editorial Committee. He has served several Dharma communities in the capacity of communications and media relations. Konchog is a graduate of Brown University, where he primarily studied modern American literature and creative writing. Discovering the Dharma soon thereafter, he became a Buddhist monk in 1993.

Konchog recalls being delighted by the launch of 84000’s website, as he was puzzled by the lack of translations of Mahāyāna sūtras during his time as a Dharma practitioner. In 2014 he began writing in with his observations of errors and inconsistencies and was soon hired as a copyeditor in 2015, at which point he felt as if he had won the karmic lottery. For him, it’s been like uncovering astonishing treasure every day since.
