Annual Reports

Thanks to the hard work and generosity of so many, 2022 was our most impactful year yet. We commissioned and funded 87 translation projects and published 4,629 pages of the words of the Buddha. We introduced intertextual linkages for our readers and activated translation memory for our translators. With a community of almost 9,000 supporters, we believe we can connect the world with a treasury of wisdom in just one lifetime.

2021 was another challenging year as a worldwide pandemic continued to affect millions. However, the generous support of donors around the world still allowed us to commission 3,700 pages of translations, award over $1.4 million in translation grants, publish 63 canonical texts in English, offer the world’s first catalog of the Tengyur in English, add new comprehension tools in our online Reading Room, establish partnerships with two universities in North America, pilot new translation models, and launch a mobile app for iOS and Android.

This decade has been a litmus test for our vision, and not without its challenges. But with your support, over our first ten years we were able to commission 343 translations, award over $7.5 million in grants to teams of highly skilled translators, assemble a committed and qualified team, define an efficient editorial system that published 59 texts in 2020 alone, and innovate the ways in which these online publications can be accessed.

Five years into our one-hundred-year journey, we are seeing our collaborations develop and our impact increase.
