Caturdāraka­samādhi

《四童子入定經》講述釋迦牟尼佛在拘尸那羅附近娑羅樹林涅槃的經過，阿難做了一個不祥的夢，佛陀表示此夢是自己即將入滅的徵兆。恐懼遂在各界中蔓延開來，眾神與各道眾生紛紛往詣佛所，處處哀聲一片。正當佛陀躺下之時，故事出現轉折，在遙遠的四方佛土中，有四名菩薩轉世人間。他們降生在恒河平原上的四個繁華城市中，皆生於顯赫之家。他們希望面見釋迦牟尼佛，於是浩浩蕩蕩地帶著隨從前來。四童子的到來伴隨著諸多神變，佛陀即解釋這些現象，並給予無量諸佛的教法以撫慰悲痛的追隨者們。在囑咐侍者阿難和兒子羅睺羅後，佛陀示現了種種神變。最後，入滅之際的佛陀看似躺在獅子座上，卻去往各方地獄與天界，將無數眾生接引至覺醒之道。
