一時，佛在舍衛城，一天子詣佛所，問佛以何行業而能往生天道。佛陀以簡潔有力的偈文作答，宣說舍棄十不善業（殺生、偷盜、邪淫、妄語、兩舌、惡口、綺語、貪心、害心、邪見）且行持十善業，乃是往生天道之路。
