本經是所有般若經典中篇幅最長的一部，於德格版《甘珠爾》大藏經中佔整整十二卷。與另兩部長篇般若經一樣，本經詳細記錄釋迦牟尼佛在王舍城靈鷲山所給予的般若智慧教法。經中開演證悟之道的各個面向，菩薩必須知曉並付諸實修，卻又絲毫不可執以為實。這部般若經以至為詳盡的方式演說每一要點，在包含關於迷惑的體驗、法道與證悟功德的系列教法中，世尊將許多深奧的教言在每一主題下反覆宣說重申其要義。

此次發布的初譯作品中僅包含本經前十五品，後續章節將在翻譯編輯完成之後陸續增補。
