《日藏經》是一部內容豐富的佛經，共十一品。在王舍城郊外的迦蘭陀竹園，釋迦牟尼佛先向大眾宣說了盜用供僧之物的大惡果報，以及護持守戒比丘的重要性。之後講述為保護和利益娑婆世界，四方佛土各遣菩薩眾送來各種不同的陀羅尼。釋迦牟尼佛即為大眾解說此諸陀羅尼，並開示出離心之種種禪修，教導萬法之空性本質。其中一品敘述了天魔和龍族之間的一段故事，由此引出有關星相學的教授，世尊更授予多種陀羅尼，並明列出聖者示現的二十大聖地。
