一時，佛在舍衛城祇園精舍，與眾比丘與菩薩俱。佛言，有四種法菩薩常應修行，縱遇命難，亦不得捨：一不捨菩提心，二不捨善知識，三不捨安忍調柔，四不捨阿蘭若。經文末尾，世尊復以二偈重宣此義，言說不捨此四法者必將證得無上菩提。
