On October 22, 2023, 84000 and with Dzongsar Khyentse Chokyi Lodro Institute gathered over 1,500 people at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodhgaya, India—the exact site where the Buddha attained enlightenment—for a powerful collective practice. Participants recited The Ornament of the Light of Awareness That Enters the Domain of All Buddhas in three languages over 30 minutes, creating a living demonstration of how translation makes these sacred texts accessible across cultures and languages.
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche addressed the gathering, emphasizing that reading, owning, or making offerings to sutras carries enormous merit, and that translating them into modern languages multiplies this benefit by allowing more people to engage with the Buddha's words. The event celebrated both the ancient tradition of sutra recitation and 84000's contemporary mission of making the Tibetan Buddhist canon available to global audiences. By reciting at this most sacred site in Buddhism, participants connected the Buddha's original awakening with the ongoing work of ensuring his teachings remain alive and accessible for future generations.
