A Resounding of The Perfection of Wisdom in Eight Thousand Lines

We are delighted to share that Sravasti Abbey will be hosting the first-ever complete recitation of The Perfection of Wisdom in Eight Thousand Lines in English — a historic milestone in the transmission of the Dharma to the West.

Presided over by monastics and lay practitioners from around the world, the event marks a remarkable convergence: the newly completed English translation by 84000 recited aloud in full for the very first time, at a Western monastic institution, culminating on Saga Dawa Düchen — one of the most sacred days in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar. The recitation will also serve to further consecrate Sravasti Abbey's new Buddha Hall.

As the sūtra itself reminds us, the merit of hearing, reciting, and upholding these words of wisdom extends far beyond what we can measure.
