Rafael Ortet was born into a family of engineers, including his grandfather, an aviation engineer who was also a passionate and learned Christian theologist. It was from him that Rafael received a deep appreciation for religion and reading scriptures. At 14, Rafael joined his father's metallurgy firm and received intensive training in thermoplastic molding and extrusion for six years. For over two decades he worked at B2B companies, such as Dynamit Nobel and United Technologies Automotive (UTA-MAI division), leading many significant projects to deliver electrical and electronic systems to top automobile makers.

After changing careers in his late thirties Rafael has dedicated three decades to collaborate with Buddhist organizations and individuals produce Buddhist publications for print and digital media channels, leading and directing essential large collections of scripture in several languages, including Kongtrul's Treasuries, Maitreya's Five Treasuries, and encyclopedic Tibetan monastic collections for leading digital platforms.

He is passionate about combining kind designs and wise technologies at the highest level to assist present and future generations in accessing the full range of the Dharma. To prepare for such endeavors, he also studied eight years at Rangjung Yeshe Institute under the guidance of his teacher Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche, and seven years of advanced Buddhist studies at the Rigpe Dorje Institute, Jamgong Labrang, Nepal.

Rafael lives in the Pyrenees mountains with his family. In his spare time he enjoys walking in nature, riding adventure bikes, and joining his Sangha activities.
