| Report from the Global Resounding
On December 5, 2015, over 800 people from 32 cities and countries connected online to recite the Words of the Buddha together. A joint effort of 84000 and Siddhartha’s Intent, this was the first time that a sutra resounding had been organized using an online platform.
Before the resounding began, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche, 84000 Chair, gave a brief opening speech. He reminded us that the only way to peace and harmony comes through the recognition of our inherent inner strength. After stressing the importance of liberating not just ourselves but also others from the knot of delusion, Rinpoche advised that the way to do that is through listening to the words of the Buddha. Scenes from Around the World
The first global live resounding wouldn’t have been possible without our volunteers across the globe, many of whom shared their experience through photos and reflections. Participants joined us online – and offline – from over 30 cities around the world. From 1am in Halifax to 1pm in Singapore, and nearly all time zones in between, the resounding truly had a global reach. Gatherings ranged from small to large, meeting in apartments, homes, restaurants, and monasteries.

To encourage the reading and study of its translated sutras, 84000 has been hosting “resoundings” all over the world. For those interested in hosting a resounding of their own, 84000 developed a simple and thorough toolkit for sanghas and organizers.
This easy step-by-step guide shows how to ensure that the event stays on track, offers sample social media posts to help spread the word, and gives suggested emcee talking points for the event itself.
